Can You Pray With Shoes On in Islam? It is acceptable to pray wearing shoes? Is it permissible to pray with shoes on? Ruling on Praying on Shoes in Hadith.
Pray With Shoes in Hadith
Sahih Bukhari, Book of Prayer – Said bin Yazid Al-Azdi:
I asked Anas bin Malik whether the Prophet had ever, prayed with his shoes on. He replied “Yes.”
It is in the hadith of Abu Dawud and Hakim that do against the Jews, they do not pray in their shoes. Hazrat Umar (RA) used to consider it makrooh to offer prayers in shoes and Abu Amr Shaibani used to take off his shoes in prayers and hit him. Abu Umru Shaibani used to take off his shoes during prayers and hit him. But the condition is to be clean. Some people say that the shoe (NA’AL) was a special shoe of the Arabs and it is not permissible to pray in these ordinary shoes. Even if they are clean. It is not correct to say so on the basis of arguments. It is permissible and correct to pray in shoes without ugliness.
As long as they are clean and tidy, if there is any suspicion of dirt, they should be taken off.
