It is not appropriate to be ashamed of acquiring knowledge and Truth – Verily, Allah is not shy of (telling you) the truth to anyone, Seek knowledge at any cost
Mujahid says that the arrogant and shy person can never acquire knowledge. Umm Al-Mumineen Hazrat Ayesha RA has said that the women of Ansar are good women and shame does not stop them from creating understanding in the religion. The arrogant one is afflicted with his arrogance and folly, who considers the acquisition of knowledge from someone as his shortcoming. The one who is ashamed is becoming ashamed in such a place due to his low intellect. Where there is no place for shame.
Narrated Um Salama: Um-Sulaim came to Allah’s Apostle and said, “Verily, Allah is not shy of (telling you) the truth. Is it necessary for a woman to take a bath after she has a wet dream (nocturnal sexual discharge?) The Prophet replied, “Yes, if she notices a discharge.” Um Salama, then covered her face and asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! Does a woman get a discharge?” He replied, “Yes, let your right hand be in dust (An Arabic expression you say to a person when you contradict his statement meaning “you will not achieve goodness”), and that is why the son resembles his mother.”
Sahih Bukhari
In this hadith Prophet Muhammad beautifully answered the women most private issues for life. like Is it necessary for a woman to take a bath after she has a wet dream? should women take a bath after nocturnal sexual discharge? Does a woman get a discharge? How a son resembles his mother? these are the various questions which every women should learn and know about it so they transfer the real knowledge to next generations with purity.
The women of the Ansar did not shy away from exploring specific issues, which only pertain to women. It is a fact that if the Messenger of Allah PBUH had not explored these issues with clarity, where would Muslim women find guidance for this aspect of their lives today? In the same way, in the above-mentioned hadith, Hazrat Umm Saleem RA has beautifully described the special attribute of Allah first that He is not ashamed to speak the truth. Then he discovered the issue which seems to be related to shame. But its place as an issue needed to be explored. It is a blessing of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for the entire Ummah that he has openly stated things about personal life which people did not normally utter with undue shame. On the other hand, the ummah of the women companions is also very grateful that they have inquired from Prophet Muhammad PBUH about all these issues that every woman needs.
